Tucked away in a quiet, leafy street of Silverleaves on Melbourne’s coastal destination of Phillip Island is a tall, barn-like surfer shack that can’t help but stand out, with its dark features and pitched roof on the residential street that it resides.
Sitting above the clouds and perched 200m on top of sheer granite cliffs overlooking the Victorian Alps is the Mount Buffalo Chalet. Built in 1910 and dormant for over 14 years now, the chalet was almost lost for good in the 2019/2020 bushfires but an effort to save the iconic timber building proved successful. So what happens to the building now?
